"You can't control the wind, but you can adjust your sails."

Cameron Kelly is a 17-year-old senior at Hurricane High School in Culloden, West Virginia, where he was born and raised. Although he tried mountain biking a few times in elementary and middle school, it was friends Dylan Lunsford and Caleb Stillwell who convinced him to join the NICA team, leading him to ride much more frequently.

Cameron is proud of backpacking 76 miles in Philmont, New Mexico, and earning his Eagle Scout Rank. He lives with his mom and dad, both of whom are very active in the community and at Meeks Mountain Trails, and the family has no pets.

Outside of trails, Cameron enjoys listening to music, pole vaulting, snowboarding, dirt bike riding, and boating. He wants to join the MMTA Junior Board because he sees it as an amazing opportunity to give back to the trail system and put himself out there. As a member, he hopes to continue hosting events and promoting the trails and their benefits.

For Cameron, biking on the trails has changed his life by helping him stay healthy both mentally and physically. His favorite activities are biking and trail building, and he particularly loves Wheel Billy’s at Meeks and River Trail at Barboursville Park. If he could do only one thing on the trails forever, it would be biking, as it has made such a big impact on his life.

Cameron draws inspiration from his favorite quote: “You can't control the wind, but you can adjust your sails.”
