Hurricane Hundred K
Welcome to the first-ever Hurricane 100k, and the ONLY 100k, trail run in West Virginia brought to you by the City of Hurricane, Little Caesars, and a host of local sponsors.
Get ready to race for a total prize purse of $7,500!
The Hurricane Hundred 100K Trail Race and Relay is 62 glorious miles on the Meeks Mountain Trails in Hurricane WV.
Prizes: $7,500 purse! $1500 for 1st place male and female, $750 for second place male and female, and $375 for third place male and female. Top coed, female, and male relay teams also get $750 to split between the three runners.
When: Saturday, September 10, 2022, starting at 6:00 am with a midnight cutoff.
Where: Meeks Mountain Trails, Hurricane, WV. The race command center, crew pit, and team hangout will be in the back of the bowl at the shelter. The race is 100% single-track mountain running on 10.3-mile loops. Solo runners will see their crew between each of the 6 laps.
Who: For the heartiest of runners only. Run the 100k solo or as a three-person team doing 20+ miles each. Crew, family, and spectators are welcome to hang out and support their runners. There's a playground nearby and loads of open trails for hiking, biking, running and exploring.
Pacers: For solo runners, pacers are permitted for the last two loops.
Swag: All runners receive a zip-up sweatshirt jacket, male and female sizes available, finisher's stainless-steel pint along with a tote and various swag from sponsors. All 100k solo finishers, within the 18-hour time limit, will receive a Hurricane 100k belt buckle.
Overall awards: $1500 for 1st place male and female, $750 for second place male and female, and $375 for third place male and female. Top coed, female, and male relay teams also get $750 to split between the three runners.
Age group awards: The top 3 female and male finishers in the following age groups will receive hand-crafted awards: 29 and under, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over.
Trail Sister Approved
We are a Trail Sisters approved race and offer an equal opportunity for female runners with female-specific swag, equal podium spots and prize money, menstrual products at aid stations, and equal space at the starting line.
Hundred K Relay
The relay race is open to teams of three: an all-male team, an all-female team, and a coed team. There is a $750 prize for the top tier ach in each category. Every team will be issued one bib. The bib must cross the finish line 6 times, and the handoff must take place at the finish/start line-not mid-trail. Teams will determine the order of runners and laps. The race headquarter is perfect for teams and crews to relax and hang out while their teammates run. When registering, the team captain will register and pay for the entire team.
Registration for the 100k is $130 between February 15 and April 14th, $150 from April 15th until July 14th, and $170 from July 15th to September 7th.
Registration per team for the relay is $330 from February 15th through April 14th, $360 from April 15th through July 14th, and $390 from July 15th through September 7th. The team captain pays for the team upon registration.
Registration is limited to 250 runners.
Course Preview and Group Training Run
Join us on Saturday, May 28th at 7 am to check out the 10+ mile looped course for the Hurricane 100k and run with local folks who know the trails. The course will be flagged and easy to follow. After the run enjoy pizza from our friends at Little Caesars and have a Q&A for those that are new to long-distance running. We'll show you the layout of the central command and support center, crew area, and talk all things ultra. This is all singe tract trail and there are approximately 1500 feet of climbing per loop for a total of 9,000 feet for the 100k. There are no long hills but there are plenty of small hills.
The mid course aid station will be at mile 5 which is the high point in the middle of the profile below. The other aid station as at the beginning /end of each loop which is the low spot of the course. It's also the crew and relay area.

King guest rooms are just $99 and Double Queen/Kings are just $105.

The Hurricane City Spray Park will be open all day on Saturday, September 10th, for runners, crew and families to enjoy free of charge courtesy of the City of Hurricane. The spray park is located at Hurricane City Park near the Meeks Mountain Trails trail head and near parking for the race.
