"In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths."
- Proverbs 3:6
Katie Doerner is an enthusiastic 8th grader at Hurricane Middle School in Hurricane, West Virginia, where she has lived her entire life. Growing up in a family passionate about outdoor activities, Katie was introduced to mountain biking by her dad, Brandon, a longtime avid rider who got the whole family involved. Her mom, Sarah, sparked her interest in trail running, leading Katie to start racing at Meeks Mountain Trails when she was just 8 years old.

Hiking has also been a fun and integral part of her upbringing on those trails. She lives with her parents, twin brother Aaron, and little sister Ella, though the family has no pets.
One of Katie's proudest achievements is earning podium finishes in every NICA race she's competed in, including two first-place wins. Beyond the trails, she's actively involved in her school's cross country, archery, and track teams, as well as the Putnam Pedalers mountain bike team. Katie also participates in the WEB team, student council, National Junior Honor Society, and FCA. She takes piano lessons and enjoys playing for her family, and she loves skiing.

In her free time, she hangs out with friends and family, always eager to be outside appreciating God's beautiful creation.
Katie is eager to join the MMTA Junior Board as a way to give back to her community. She hopes to follow in her dad's footsteps by carrying on the legacy of Meeks Mountain Trails, positively impacting the community's health, wellbeing, and overall attitude. She also wants to highlight that these accomplishments are made possible through faith in God. For Katie, trails have enhanced her life by promoting health and teaching her about God's capabilities, the importance of community service, and making the best of every situation.
Her favorite trail activity is mountain biking—there's nothing quite like flying down an awesome hill. At Meeks, she particularly loves the Wild Wonderful Wheelbilly's down trail. If she could do only one thing on the trails forever, it would be mountain biking with her family. Katie draws inspiration from her favorite quote: “In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:6.
